Privacy Policy
This page is maintained by the operator to answer common privacy questions about The Mustard Seed Fund.
What we collect from applicants
- Name and contact information (email or phone).
- Wallet tag (e.g., CashApp, Venmo) for verification only.
- A short description of the need and the requested amount.
- Verification documents (e.g., bills, invoices) uploaded during vetting.
What we collect from donors
- Optional display name (defaults to "Anonymous friend").
- Payment card details, handled by the payment processor, not stored by us.
- Contribution amount, tip amount, and timestamp.
What appears publicly
Only anonymized fields are posted to the public feed: category, region, a short PII-stripped summary, and the amount requested. Applicant names, contact information, and verification documents are never displayed publicly.
How we use the information
- To vet requests and confirm the need is real.
- To pay vendors directly and record proof of disbursement.
- To send optional updates when a seed is fully funded.
- To keep an internal audit log of payments for accountability.
Retention
Applicant contact details and verification documents are retained only as long as needed for vetting and record-keeping (typically 12 months) and then deleted or redacted. Donation records are kept indefinitely for operator accounting.
Third parties
The platform uses a hosted database and file storage provider, and a payment processor. These providers may process data on our behalf. We do not sell your information to anyone.
Your rights
You can request deletion of your applicant record or donor record at any time by contacting the operator through the request form.
